FAQ: What is the "Performance" Metric?
The Performance Metric is a calculation used by the LCBO to measure sales throughout the retail channel. It is calculated as:
(Litres / Number of Stores with at least 1 unit sold) for 4 Rolling Weeks
NOTE: Previously, Performance Metric took the current week and multiplied that number by 4. A rolling 4-week is a much more accurate and insightful metric.
Higher is better. It is generally good practice to remove product from locations with sluggish sales velocity. This metric helps evaluate the effectiveness of your product distribution.
DigThisData provides the Performance Metric for all retail channels so users can compare provincial retail performance for the LCBO against TBS or any other territory.
UPDATE: Under Industry → Compare Tool, competitive performance now includes the distribution value and is displayed as Performance / Distribution (eg. 3.87 / 387), which will display the Performance AND the Number of Stores (Distribution) used in the calculation.
