How to: Install DigThisData as a Mobile App

DigThisData is now delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that can be installed easily on mobile devices (phones and tablets). There are several advantages to installing the PWA on a device:

  • Better user experience - the DigThisData PWA is full screen and provides more real estate for user interactions.
  • Offline support - caching provides offline support when unreliable connectivity is experienced.
  • Performance enhancements - pre-fetched content alongside cached content greatly improves speed and render times.
  • Accessibility - by providing a home screen icon, launching the app is consistent and far easier.


The DigThisData PWA is supported on most mobile devices, including iOS (iPhone / iPad / iPod) and Android.


To install DigThisData on an iOS (iPhone / iPad / iPod) device:

  • Open DigThisData by going to https://app.digthisdata.com in Safari.
  • Tap on Safari's default Share icon.
  • Select "Add to Home Screen" from the bottom gray options. You may have to scroll right to find it.
  • Confirm the name of the app after prompted, and tap "Done".


To install DigThisData on an Android device:

  • Open DigThisData by going to https://app.digthisdata.com in Google Chrome.
  • Tap the menu button in the upper right corner (three vertical dots).
  • Tap "Add to Home Screen".
  • Confirm the name of the app after prompted, and tap "Add".
